Keep Your Availability Up to Date

You will be booked classes in any time slot you keep open. If you can no longer teach during an open time slot, close it immediately. Repeated cancellations will result in your account being put on hold or contract termination. You can can review how to update your availability
 

Cancellations and Rescheduling

Requires a minimum of 24 hours notice to avoid any penalties or strikes being issued. You can cancel or reschedule a lesson on your Booking page.

Less than 24 hours notice for cancellations and rescheduling

If less than 24 hours notice is provided to cancel or reschedule a class then there will be a deduction of 30% your base rate from your monthly bonus total.

Less than 2 Hours Notice for Cancellations and Rescheduling

If less than 2 hours notice is given for a cancellation or class rescheduling then you will receive a deduction of 50% your base rate from your monthly total bonus.​

Must last a full 50 minutes

Must be logged into the class on the hour to the second

Class ends exactly at the 50 minute mark

 

Class Duration

Class marked "Late": Enter at or after the start of the hour

 

If a teacher is not present in the classroom at the class start time, $1 will be deducted per minute, up to the 5th minute, to a max of $6 if the teacher is late by more than 5 minutes. Should the duration fall short of one minute, it shall be rounded up to the nearest whole minute and the relevant deduction rules will take effect. Should the duration fall short of the minute, it shall be rounded up to the nearest whole minute and the relevant deduction rules will take effect. (For example, being late by 1min 30 secs would receive a $2 deduction.)

 

 

Class marked "Left Early": Leave before the 50 minute mark

 

If a teacher is not present in the classroom at the 50-minute mark, $1 will be deducted per minute, up to the 5th minute, to a max of $6 if the teacher leaves the classroom more than 5 minutes before the 50-minute mark. Should the duration fall short of the minute, it shall be rounded up to the nearest whole minute and the relevant deduction rules will take effect. (For example, leaving early by 1min 30 secs would receive a $2 deduction.)

Teacher No Show

Failure to attend class with no notice should only happen in the event of an unavoidable emergency where you are unable to communicate with ClassUp. Students waiting in class for their teacher not to show up should never happen. If a Teacher No Show does occur, there will be a 100% base rate deduction from monthly bonuses.

Student Attendance Policy - Student No Show  and Wait Policy

To ensure that your time is respected by students, the following pay rates will occur if a student cancels a class last minute or does not attend a scheduled lesson.

  • If a student does not show up for a Trial class you must wait in the classroom for 10 minutes.

​

  • If a student does not show up for a Long-term class you must wait in the classroom for the entire 50 minute lesson in case they decide to join late.

Trial Classes

Wait 10 minutes if the student is not in the classroom. 

​

You will receive 30% of your base rate.

Long-term Classes

​​

Wait the full 50 minutes. 

​

You will receive 100% of your base rate.

Soft Cancellation Policy

We understand that life does happen and classes could be missed or need to be canceled. Our soft cancellation policy will assist in removing any payment and contract status penalties that may have been incurred due to a ‘Teacher No Show’ or a teacher canceling a class within 24hrs of the class start time.

 

To apply for a soft cancellation, teachers may need to submit relevant supporting documents to justify their claim. These documents will then be reviewed by ClassUp and once accepted, the soft cancellation procedure will be complete.

Soft Cancellation

Teacher supplies supporting documents that are reviewed and accepted by ClassUp.

Class finish type is changed to Teacher Cancellation with no payment penalty and no contract status penalty.

Regular Cancellation

Teacher does not supply supporting documents or the document supplied was not accepted by ClassUp.

​

Class Finish Type is not changed, may incur payment penalty, may incur contract status penalty.

Maternity/Paternity Notice

​​​​

To be considered for a soft cancellation you (our your spouse) must be going into labour.

​

No proof needed. Just inform ClassUp approximately 1 week prior to your due date.

Illness

To be considered for a soft cancellation, the illness must affect you, your child, spouse or direct family member. The illness must be serious; a hospital visit or a urgent care visit would most likely qualify for a soft cancellation. Everyday illnesses such as cold and flu would not qualify for a soft cancellation.

Proof: Doctor's note or medical bill with proof of date or time. The information needs to be clear and legible. Times must coincide with the schedule time of the class you are submitting for.

Emergencies

​​​​

Emergencies that are out of your control including hurricanes, snowstorms, weather events, accidents, power outages, internet outages, etc.

​

Proof: Valid documentation includes an official notice from the power company, an official weather report for your area, a police report, etc.

How long do I have to remain in the classroom in the event of a Trial Lesson No Show?

 

Teachers must remain in the classroom for 10 minutes in the event of a Trial Lesson No Show.

Teachers must remain in the classroom for 50 minutes for a Long Term No Show.
